A Team is a second kind of AnyAPI account. It has one balance, its own API keys, and many people, each with a role. Keys belong to the Team, so they keep working when the person who created them leaves. Your personal account doesn’t change. Every person keeps their own personal account, and can belong to any number of Teams as well. Use a Team when several people spend from the same budget, or when keys must outlive the person who made them. Keep working on your personal account when you work alone.

Create a Team

Open the account switcher at the bottom of the dashboard sidebar and choose Create Team. Enter a name. You become the Team’s Admin, and the dashboard switches to the new Team. A new Team is an empty account:
  • Its balance starts at $0. Add funds to the Team before you run APIs from it.
  • It has no API keys yet. Create Team keys after you switch to it.
  • Your personal balance stays on your personal account. Balances can’t be moved between accounts.
  • Your existing keys and connected apps keep billing your personal account. To share work, fund the Team and use Team keys.
A personal account can’t be turned into a Team.

Switch accounts

The account switcher at the bottom of the sidebar lists your personal account and every Team you belong to. Choose one to act for it. Everything in the dashboard then shows that account: its balance, usage, request history, keys, and billing. API keys and connected apps don’t follow the switcher. A key always spends the account it was created in. See Keys belong to an account.

Invite people

Admins invite people from the Team’s Members page:
  1. Switch to the Team and open Members.
  2. Choose Invite, then enter the person’s email address and pick a role.
  3. AnyAPI emails them an invitation.
Pending invitations are listed on the Invitations tab. An Admin can resend or revoke one there. The role comes from the invitation, so the person joins with the role you picked.

Accept an invitation

Open the link in the invitation email. Sign in, or sign up if you don’t have an AnyAPI account yet, and the dashboard switches to the Team. If you’re already signed in, pending invitations also appear in the account switcher. Choose Accept to join.

Roles

Every member has one role. Everyone on a Team sees the same account data; roles limit who can spend and who can change things. A Developer can’t create, edit, rotate, re-enable, disable, or delete a Full access key. Rotating a key shows its new secret, so this keeps Full access in the hands of Admins. Teams can’t have View seller earnings keys. See Personal-only features. A request your role doesn’t allow fails with 403 and error code forbidden. Role changes take effect on your next request. An Admin changes a role from the Members tab. A Team always needs at least one Admin, so the last Admin can’t be given another role.

Connected apps

When you approve an app such as the CLI (anyapi login) or an MCP client, it connects to the account selected in the dashboard at that moment. Switch to the Team first to connect an app to the Team. If you switch accounts while the approval page is open, the approval is refused; reload the page and approve again. On a Team, each connection belongs to the person who approved it:
  • Only Admins and Developers can connect apps.
  • Your connection is your own. A colleague connecting the same app doesn’t disconnect yours.
  • The connection follows your current role on every request. If you become Billing or Viewer, it can only read the balance and can no longer run APIs.
  • If you’re removed from the Team, your connections stop working at once.

Remove a member or leave

An Admin removes a member from the Members tab. Removal takes effect at once:
  • The person loses access to the Team on their next request.
  • Apps they connected to the Team are disconnected.
  • Team API keys keep working, including the keys that person created. Keys belong to the Team. Rotate any key the person could see. See Rotate a key.
To leave a Team, ask an Admin to remove you. The last Admin can’t be removed; make another member an Admin first, or delete the Team.

Rename a Team

An Admin renames the Team from the Settings tab of the Members page.

Delete a Team

An Admin deletes the Team from the Settings tab. Deleting removes the Team for everyone, and its API keys and connected apps stop working. It can’t be undone. AnyAPI refuses to delete a Team while money could still reach it or work is still running: When a deletion is refused, the Team stays exactly as it was.

A Team that is closing

While AnyAPI deletes a Team, the Team is closing. If the deletion is interrupted before it finishes, the Team stays closing until an Admin acts. While a Team is closing:
  • Every API key, connected app, and member session is refused with 409 and error code team_closing.
  • An Admin can choose Retry deletion or Cancel deletion on the Settings tab.
Cancelling returns the Team to normal, with its balance, keys, and members unchanged.

Audit log

Admins can see who changed what on the Team, and when, in the audit log.

Notifications

Top-up receipts, low balance and balance-ran-out emails, and paused-key emails for a Team go to every current Admin, at the email address of their own account.

Personal-only features

These stay on your personal account and aren’t available on a Team, for any role or key:
  • Sell APIs: seller earnings, payouts, and the payout account. Teams can’t have View seller earnings keys.
  • Referrals and referral earnings.
  • Agent and its Slack connection.
  • The onboarding bonus and the free balance a new personal account starts with. A new Team starts at $0.
  • Continuing an agent’s free trial. Approve the upgrade from your personal account.
A Team API key or connected app that calls one of these gets 403 with error code forbidden.
